On Wednesday, April 7th, Caesar Martinis was bursting at the seams—with guests and shoes—for the second annual Glass Slipper Affair!
The evening started off on the right note as the ArteDuo performed Old Hollywood Standards and guests bid on fabulous shoes—and shoe related items such as the custom ‘Fantasy Shoe’ pendent created by Knar Jewelers. Also on hand were: KIX 106 Linda Martelli and the gallant Waterloo Fire Fighters as attendees embraced Old Hollywood by indulging at the Gourmet Popcorn Station provided the Rebehkah Lodge or selecting their evening’s lashes adhered by professional makeup artists courtesy of Shoppers Drug Mart at the Lip & Lash Bar. Everyone had a chance to act as a Fairy Godmother at the Cinderella Tree courtesy of Arvato Services, and of course, every Cinderella needs a Palace! An evening highlight was the three-day, trip for two to Caesars Palace, Atlantic City courtesy of
Michael Snyder and Northstar Travel.
At the end of the evening, almost $20,000 was raised to help local children at risk of abuse and neglect. Now we would like to “Thank You” for your support of the Glass Slipper Affair and the children, youth, and families who will benefit from your generosity.
No child chooses to be a foster child. Foster children have faced unimaginable heartbreaks; their confidence and self-worth seriously eroded through a lifetime of abuse or neglect. Children escaping situations of abuse or neglect have rarely had a chance to just be children. More importantly, and through no fault of their own, many are a grade or two behind their peers.
Family and Children’s Services attempts to get the lives of these children back on track so they can catch up on their futures. In addition to opportunities for summer camp, sports, and counseling for children struggling with the effects of sexual abuse, the Agency offers a range of academic support programs such as their tutoring program, a reading incentive program, and a new book club, “Reader’s For Life” whose goal is to inspire in these children a love of reading.
Your help at this year’s Glass Slipper Affair will ensure local foster children have the opportunity to just be children.
