About FACS
Family and Children’s Services provides programs and opportunities for many children in Waterloo Region who may otherwise not have the chance to engage in these experiences. Some of the programs offered by the agency include summer camp, sports, and counseling for children struggling with the effects of sexual abuse; as well as offering academic support programs such as their tutoring program, a reading incentive program and a new book club, “Reader’s For Life”, which was created to inspire a love of reading in children.
Your help at this year’s Glass Slipper Affair will ensure local foster children have the opportunity to just be children.
About the Foundation:
Established in 1992, the Family and Children’s Services Foundation was created to support the children and the families who require the care of Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region. Along with its statutory responsibility to protect children in danger of physical and emotional harm, the Family and Children’s Services agency, itself a charitable, nonprofit social service organization, provides children with a nurturing environment in which to heal and grow, and provides parents with the help and opportunities they need to create a better life for their families. This is only possible through the generous support of the local community.
The Family and Children’s Services Foundation makes possible the Family and Children’s Services programs to promote healing, learning, and growing that are not supported through government funding for child protection.
Our Registered Charity Number is 885346817RR0001.
